Public Involvement Program Design
- Prepare public involvement plans intended to keep individual and community stakeholders informed about alternative planning options, identify their preferences, concerns and areas of agreement / disagreement, and promote the search for consensus.
- Develop and produce public information support materials such as:
- websites and databases
- newsletters, brochures and press kits
- direct mailers
- press releases, media spots, and public service announcements
- fact sheets
- PowerPoint presentations
- Develop public outreach programs to inform target populations about possible actions, project alternatives, etc. which could affect them.
- Facilitate scoping meetings, focus groups, panels, workshops, etc.
- Translate complicated technical information into user-friendly presentations.
Public Opinion Survey Research
- Combine social science and market research techniques to collect and analyze survey data that enhance understanding of public issues, perceptions, and opinions.
- Develop and implement various types of surveys, questionnaires, testing, and evaluation tools with the aim of collecting accurate and useful information that is presented in an understandable format.
- Coordinate the implementation of all survey procedures, including sampling, construction of survey instruments, survey administration, data entry, data analysis, and interpretation of findings.
- Prepare meaningful, easy to read reports that summarize input in a way that it can be used in subsequent project planning, decision making, and implementation.
- Identify key stakeholders and potentially affected interests, as part of the development of comprehensive project mailing lists and useful databases.
Issue Identification and Troubleshooting
- Conduct feasibility studies that involve the assessment and development of resolution strategies for key stakeholder concerns (real and perceived) prior to project implementation.
- Conduct informal fact-finding interviews with key community leaders to identify issues and community values that are important to each project's success.
- Facilitate communication, dialogue, and interaction among diverse community stakeholders.
- Enhance agency credibility through focus group sessions and advisory groups that provide a means for decision makers to interact with their constituents and promote mutual education and communication.
- Develop and coordinate conflict resolution activities between our clients and public or private sector representatives in situations where opposing viewpoints are addressed — including political forums, school board meetings, union meetings, and special interest group interactions.
